Early Dementia Checkup
  Items Description Subject of Medical Checkup Expenses
Phase 1 Screening Test 13 questions in Cognitive Impairment Screening Test(CIST) Residents who are not diagnosed with dementia (once a year) Free
Phase 2 Medical Examination Neuropsychological test, clinical dementia rating(CDR, GDS) Those with cognitive decrease or suspected cognitive decrease in accordance with the screening test Free
Phase 3 Diagnostic Test Diagnostic test, neuroimaging, medical examination by a doctor (in a medical institute to the cooperation agreement) Those whose dementia causes are not identified in accordance with the diagnostic test 60 years or older.
Support for medical expenses depending on the income standard
Support for Early Dementia Checkup Expenses
  • Targets :Those who satisfy age and income requirements.
    • Age Requirement: 60 years or older who need diagnostic testing or screening
    • Income Requirement: Those whose income is less than 120% of the national average household income.
  • Support :Support of actual expenses within the support limit.
    • Diagnostic Test: 150,000 KRW
    • Screening Test: up to 80,000 KRW for clinics, hospitals, and general hospitals up to 110,000 KRW for higher-level general hospitals
Dementia Care Expenses Support
  • Targets :Dementia patients who have dementia treatment medication (with resident registration in Gimje)
    • Those who are diagnosed with a dementia-related ICD-10 code (F00 to F03, G30 or one of them) at a medical facility and receiving dementia treatment medication
    • Those whose income is less than 120% of the national standard median income
  • Support :Copay of the medical expenses of the prescription and the dementia medication costs.
  • Amount of support :Copay of up to 30,000 KRW per month (360,000 KRW per year)
Supply of care essentials for dementia patients
  • Targets : Dementia patients registered in the Dementia Relief Center
    • Dementia patients with general health insurance: up to 1 year
    • Dementia patients in basic livelihood security class or near poverty class: once a year
  • Support : sanitary consumables (adult diapers, anti-slip mattress, anti-slip socks, etc.)
    • ※ Care essentials are subject to change in accordance with further dementia policy
Dementia Patient’s Fingerprint Registration and Identification Tag Issuance
  • Targets : Dementia patients registered in the Dementia Relief Center
  • Support
    • Fingerprint registration in cooperation with a police agency
    • Issuance of identification tag with unique numbers.
Supply of Dementia Patient’s Positioning Device
  • Targets : Dementia patients registered in the Dementia Relief Center
  • Support
    • Supply of wristwatch-type positioning devices enabling location tracking
    • Supply of positioning devices and monthly communication expenses for about 2 years
