Village History

In the early period of the village formation, around the year 1040, there was a prominent site called Bihongrakji (飛鴻洛地) so that the village was named Hongsanchon Village (鴻山村). During the Japanese invasion in 1592, a military officer from the Bak clan who lived in the village perished on the battlefield and his horse, saddle, and sword were all that remained. Being surrounded by Malmoedongsan where the horse was buried, and the Hongjimoe (鴻止山), and Hwachosan (花草山) ranges, the village was named Nae-ri (內里). In 1914, the village was named Naechon (內村) due to the change of administrative districts.

As of 2009, there are about 60 households and most are engaged in paddy and upland farming.
